John Rice Quoted in Recovery Personal Injury Magazine About Infant Litigants

Following recent coverage in Lawyers Weekly, John Rice is quoted extensively in the latest issue of Recovery Personal Injury Magazine. The article, entitled Minor Considerations, Major Concerns, addresses the many challenges of representing infant litigants. In addition to the child’s participation in the court proceedings, assessing damages is a particularly lengthy and complex process. John notes that:

Infant litigants pose unique challenges to counsel — especially
in the case of catastrophic trauma, such as brain injuries
or paralysis — because the plaintiff lawyer must evaluate and
assess the nature, duration and extent of the client’s losses, not
just until the child attains the age of majority but also for the
balance of his or her life.

These considerations require experienced personal injury lawyers with the patience to diligently pursue an infant’s claims rather than accept a premature settlement.
