RHE obtains $383,000 for hardworking supermum, who developed a chronic pain condition after being hit by a car as a pedestrian

John Rice recovered $383,000 in damages after a two week trial for our hardworking client Kristen Krinhaug, a supermum who works with autistic children and who developed a chronic pain condition after being hit by a car as a pedestrian while ushering her two year old nephew off their townhouse common roadway.

This was yet another case forced to trial by ICBC’s lowball settlement offer strategy. The trial judge categorically rejected ALL of ICBC’s theories on liability, baseless allegations of pre-existing conditions, intervening events, and exaggerated claims.

It is regrettable that to justify a no-fault scheme which makes good drivers pay for bad drivers, the NDP government has incentivized ICBC to needlessly clog our courts and make ratepayers subsidize the waste.

The full reasons for judgment can be found here.
