Zen v. Readhead, 2011 BCSC 190
Largest chronic pain award in British Columbia.
Kevin Jarvis and John Rice were trial counsel for Mr. Zen, a 45 year old high level executive was injured in a car accident on April 1, 2005, when the Defendant ran a stop sign. Our client developed significant chronic pain that affected his ability to run his family’s group of companies.
ICBC’s lawyers accused the Plaintiff of exaggerating his injuries and of advancing a fraudulent claim for damages.
The trial judge categorically rejected the defence position and awarded one of the biggest chronic pain awards ever in British Columbia. ICBC appealed the trial judgment. The case then later settled.
