Rice Harbut Elliott LLP has commenced proceedings in a class action lawsuit, representing Canadian women who were prescribed “Alysena 21” or “Alysena 28” birth control pills, in which Health Canada had issued public advisories in February 2018 and March 2018.

Current Status:  Settled.

A settlement agreement has been reached, subject to approval of the Court. The settlement approval hearing is scheduled for May 16, see here for the settlement agreement and notices in French and English. For more information, please visit the settlement website www.alysenaclassaction.ca.

The affected “Alysena 21” or “Alysena 28” pills reportedly involved chipped, broken, or smaller-than-normal pills, leading to unintended pregnancies. At present, the recall involves pills from all lots of:

Alysena 21 (DIN 02387875)
Alysena 28 (DIN 02387883)

Our firm is seeking compensation for Canadian women who received “Alysena 21” or “Alysena 28” birth control pills that may have been involved in the manufacturing defect. Damages will be sought both for women who experienced unintended pregnancies and other women who received pills that were recalled.
